Our selection process began with finding a property that was close to work and activities. Commuting less than 15 minutes one way was our goal. Secondly the land need to support a sustainable farm and green lifestyle. We compared the qualities of each property in a 15 minute commuting time radius such as streams, soils, vegetation and slope. This property was actually our third choice but in the end satisfied all of the most important priorities. Weighing the pro's and con's of living in a country setting vs a town is something of great value to us and a first step in the building process.
We wanted to find a lot with enough room that we would not outgrow it but not so much we could not maintain it. We decided we where comfortable with a 5 acre lot. The lot is also very private which is something we wanted as well since this is not just a place to work and play but it is also our home and where our children will grow up.Joe
